Hot Town, Summer in the City

I got back just in time to attend Declan’s christening. It was a memorable ceremony with his family there to share in Father Wall’s blessing
Continuing in the celebration theme, we dined out for Nicole’s 15th birthday
I love Chicago in the summer ! Grant Park is a short walk from home and offers free concerts twice a week.
Bruce Springsteen delivered a three hour performance at Wrigley Field. I was relieved to see that I wasn’t the oldest person in attendance. The energy from the stage and the crowd was tremendous.
Before the concert, I met up with Karen and Nic. My son-in-law, Quin was the skilled DJ at Alma. He read the crowd so skillfully ( most over 65 or 70 ) and we started the evening energized.
The weather was so perfect. It allowed me to take long walks along the lakefront and into the gardens around Buckingham Fountain
Bike rides along the lakefront were a welcome early morning ritual. I then ventured west to the 606 bike path on my way to Andy and Molly’s new house
Sunday morning Farmer’s Market at Logan Square let us enjoy beautiful produce, great Kikwetu coffee, croissants and more! Declan got in an early morning stroll, too.
The three Kucich boys got together for some laughs!
Josh turned 8 and we got together to celebrate
Josh had become interested in Route 66. For that reason, I drove some of it this spring and took lots of pictures of the remains of the legend. I put together a little book for Josh. I hope we can drive part of it together some day.
It was a short six weeks but I did squeeze in the musical, “MJ” and the “Barbie” movie. I will miss my family and friends but feel the need to get back on the road.
